Kendall Holbrook is determined to make it to the top, even with the challenge of being a woman on the male-dominated racing circuit. She doesn't have time for romance-especially not with racing rival Evan Monroe, the man who nearly crushed her dream years ago. Tricked into meeting him, Kendall is experiencing all those old feelings again-and she can't deny that they still have enough chemistry to set fire to the track.

The way Evan Monroe is portrayed is wonderful. I loved his constant questioning of his life, why he was doing things, why he started doing things in the first place. It just really rang true. On the other hand, as much as the whole "female in a male dominated world" thing rang true with Kendall, the chip on her shoulder got to be annoying at times.
It would have been nice to see a bit more of the dynamics between Kendall and her family. It was almost a shock, the way they treated her. That doesn't excuse her behavior when the bomb shell toward the end was dropped. I got that she was hurt, but come on. Evan didn't do anything on purpose and had no control of the situation. I'm glad things got straightened out without Evan having to be the one to totally give in...Kendall also took responsibility for her part.
This was definitely not my favorite of the books (even though I truly loved Evan in this book) in this series, but it was still good.
This book was not good.
The characters were cardboard cut outs of people who come from the south and race cars.
The dialogue was so irritating and all of the thrown in drama was uncalled for. There was no reason for the first separation and there was no real apology from the idiot who caused the problem.
This book felt very high school but on a race track and a bit like the author spun a wheel to find what surprise event could mess up the repaired relationship.
