Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

From international bestselling author Sav R. Miller comes a steamy and twisted love story between two humans haunted by their pasts. In the wake of her father’s death, lonely Juliet Harrison struggles with the guilt over her loss. She deals with it the way she deals with everything: by burying her feelings beneath impulsive decisions and desecrating the local graveyard. But Juliet isn’t as invisible as she believes. Hiding out from the ghosts of his past, Kieran Ivers is known in King’s Trace as a homicidal hermit. But the rumors don’t stop him from visiting the cemetery to taunt his late brother’s remains. It’s there he first spots a woman engaging in lascivious acts on her father’s grave, and becomes enraptured by the darkness surrounding her. When she leaves behind a necklace, Kieran finds and keeps it until he can score a meeting with the mysterious siren. He doesn’t know she’s the sister-in-law of his rival, or that she is drowning in her sadness. Nor does he care. Once he’s decided what he wants, he’ll stop at nothing to get her. *Sweet Solitude is the second interconnected standalone in the King's Trace Antiheroes series, a dark romance trilogy revolving around a corrupt small town in Maine. I'm not surprised in the least that I like Kieran so much. I did start to question him when he drugged Juliet but, in his defense, she had broken into his place so she kind of had it coming. Not like she didn't know who she was messing with.

It's hard to say if I liked this one more than Surrender or not. They are both good. But the one I'm really looking forward to is Sacrifice. Having already met the main couple years into their relationship, I'm looking forward to seeing how it starts. Though judging from the teaser chapter found in Solitude, it's going to be a painful ride. Although, when you are hiding it behind everyone's backs, it can lead to some messy stuff.

It's really late when I'm typing this so I'm having a hard time getting my thoughts together. Long story short, I really enjoyed this book. I love Kieran and the fact that we got more scenes with Kal. He was my favorite of the guys from Monsters & Muses so I'm simping a bit every time I see him, silently wondering where in the timeline this is. If my theory for the next book is right, then I was correct the first time. It is after Elena's eighteenth birthday, meaning he would be starting to pay attention. Though it's hard to place when.

Oh well. I'm sure there were more clues in Monsters & Muses but since I hadn't read this series yet at the time, I glossed over them.

Well, I guess I'll be starting Sacrifice next. The name alone has my heart hurting, even though I know how it ends. This is going to be a messy and painful ride. I can just feel it.
