Before they became beloved films, they were stories on the page. Here are the books that inspired the Studio Ghibli movies! Some are direct adaptations and others were used as inspiration. Note: not all of them have been translated to English (yet).

I learned wayyyyy too late in my life that most of the Ghibli movies were derived from books. Some we know about, like Howl's Moving Castle, some we don't, like I didn't know Kiki's Delivery Service was a novel originally!
