When the kingdom of Praiton began overthrowing the surrounding kingdoms of Krigor, no one knew why. As a healer for Praiton, Deya believed that there was no higher honor in the realm. But when Deya is imprisoned after learning an enormous secret that threatens the regime, her love and loyalty for her kingdom is shattered. Beaten, and tortured, a new, terrible power is unleashed inside of her, a power that she cannot control. Forced outside of the only kingdom that she has ever known, Deya has no choice but to team up with a band of unlikely rebels that all have one thing in the desire for the destruction of Praiton. One of those rebels is Caelum, a male who spent most of his life inside a prison. Having lost everything to Praiton, Caelum hates everything and everyone from the kingdom…Including Deya. But Caelum has a secret, one that could turn the tide of the war, and one that keeps him pushing everyone and everything away. As Deya struggles to recover from the trauma of her imprisonment, she is forced to face where her allegiance with the kingdom that betrayed her, or with the male who could destroy it forever. A CROWN OF STAR & ASH is an Adult Fantasy Romance book perfect for those who love the fae and romance of Sarah J. Maas’s A Court of Thorns and Roses series but want the adventure and political intrigue of Game of Thrones. If you like enemies to lovers, morally gray MMCs, and action and plot with a dash of spice, A CROWN OF STAR & ASH is for you!

From the very first page, Taylor’s writing transports you to a whole new world, weaving together breathtaking world-building and gripping storytelling that had me instantly hooked. I binged this book in record time, completely immersed in its magic, politics, and intrigue. If you love ACOTAR and Game of Thrones, this is a must-read!

Deya’s character development throughout the book is both devastating and empowering. As a healer in Praiton (a kingdom that has spent years overthrowing others) Deya simply wants to be accepted. But her rare talents set her apart, making her a target. When tragedy strikes, betrayal leaves her in an unimaginable situation. However, through newfound abilities and unlikely allies, she begins to rebuild her life, only to discover that the world is far different from what she believed. The friendships and character dynamics in this book are everything! Deya's journey is shaped by the people around her, including a not-so-friendly male whose presence challenges her in unexpected ways. The slow-burn romance, enemies-to-lovers tension, and secret royalty trope had me absolutely hooked. The emotional rollercoaster these characters go through, from betrayal to self-discovery, had me feeling every moment right alongside them.

Victoria K. Taylor knows exactly how to craft a compelling story with multi-faceted characters that leave you wanting more. I devoured this book in 24 hours, yet I found myself thinking about Deya, Caelum, and Val long after I turned the last page. Without a doubt, A Crown of Star & Ash is one of my top reads of the year, a truly unputdownable fantasy adventure!

WOW.... I was so gripped my this story I devoured it in 2 days! I LOVE EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER!!! My heart broke with each of them and their stories, all of them extremely impactful. I adored Rayner and Val with her fiery (literally) spirit. Deya and Caelum's relationship with each other was epic full of betrayal, pain, love, and so much more! This story broke my heart but sung of so much hope in spite of all the horrible darkness. I ABSOLUTELY loved the world building and magic system of this world. I am not even sure I can find words to accurately express just how much I LOVED this story. I highly recommend... this is definitely a high contender for me as a book of the year!
