I adore historical romances that have paranormal elements to them, and the enchanted painting in this one is rather unique (it kind of reminded me of Prince of Dreams by Lisa Kleypas, which I know is divisive, but I really enjoyed it!). Our Victorian, housekeeper heroine is capable and strong willed - and our knight hero is just medieval enough. I loved their conversations, and the way Braden set the story over a surprisingly long period of time. Unfortunately, their long-awaited meeting in person was a little less passionate than I would have liked, and as with many novellas, the ending felt a tad rushed. But it’s a great little read for spooky season!
