Jhumpa Lahiri took the literary world by storm when her debut collection, Interpreter of Maladies, won the Pulitzer Prize in 2000. The collection was followed by her best-selling and critically acclaimed novel The Namesake—a finely wrought, deeply moving family drama. Presenting these works together here, this edition displays Lahiri’s enormous talent as a storyteller.

Lovely prose by Ms. Lahiri. She had me connect with the characters, even the ones I really wanted to hate.
I had a problem with The Namesake, I just don't know exactly what it was. Perhaps it was the nonexistent plot or the fact that the story was more bitter than sweet. It could be that I felt the narration bloated with unnecessary details at times.
While I really enjoyed reading it and loved that I could connect to the descriptions of India, I didn't love it. I wanted to though.
