A dangerous deal with the devil gives one witch more than she bargained for... Prue is an earth witch, blessed with power from the Triple Goddess. Still mourning the loss of her twin sister, Prue summons the devil himself from the Underworld, intent on bringing her sister back from the dead. But when she meets him—a handsome man named Cyrus—he is more deadly and alluring than she anticipated. Prue tricks him into binding his blood with hers, granting her access to his powers over the dead. But the bond also unlocks the gates to the Underworld, unleashing the spirits within. Now Cyrus is bound to her in more ways than one. Desperate to close the gates and save the mortal realm from unholy destruction, Prue and Cyrus must work together to undo their bargain. But against her better judgment, Prue is enthralled by his seductive nature, and she finds herself falling for the devil himself. This fantasy romance is a Hades and Persephone retelling with a twist, full of steamy romance, dark paranormal themes, and allusions to Greek mythology. Perfect for fans of Kingdom of the Wicked and A Touch of Darkness.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars. I listened to the audiobook on Kobo, and both narrators did an excellent job. This might not technically be a romance, as you don't get an HEA or even an HFN, but you do get a resolution with a clear lead on to the next book.

An imaginative and loose retelling of Hades/Persephone that seems to take from different mythologies about the afterlife (there are multiple princes of Hell, but Gaia is the primary goddess). I enjoyed it a lot and would like to know more details about the worldbuilding and lore.

I agree with others that the characters often contradict themselves (you know, like people sometimes do). It's full of almost-miscommunications or maybe more like assumptions that we, the reader, know are wrong because of the dual POV. It's that kind of romance novel, and if that bugs you then give it a miss. I don't mind that kind of conflict/tension, but I know some people really struggle with it.

The pacing is good throughout, and really kicks up at the very end. Lots of crazy revelations that I hope to hear more about in the next book. Which I will be listening to next!
