03.5* they start out as what feels like casual friends. They text every couple months and see each other at media events. But later they act like they had this special friendship that they can’t give up. They do know each other 10+ years from high school, but it didn’t seem like they were that close. It doesn’t really matter but it felt inconsistent.
The ‘big conflict’ felt a little confusing. 2 shitty things happen at once, and the heroine is rightly upset. Felt like if either incident had happened on its own, it would have been easily resolved with a conversation. But both happening together really keeps them apart- which I guess makes sense - but which one was she REALLY upset about?
I like a hockey romance. I’ll read another by this author.
