My Girl

My Girl

Audrey Rush

Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

A psychopath doesn’t love. He possesses. When you lose interest in a possession, you get rid of it. As I become bored of stalking innocent Rae, I decide to end her life. But then she shows me the truth: underneath that good girl disguise lies a deviant little monster. She reminds me of myself. I wear a mask to hide who I am; Rae hides behind a normal façade every single day. She’s capable of so much more than she realizes, and that potential intrigues me. A new challenge falls into place. Can I make this girl hurt others like me? Yearn for blood like me? Kill like me? I won’t stop until I find out. As long as my girl amuses me, I’ll let her live. And when she no longer interests me, I’ll discard her. Author’s Note: This is a horror story with explicit content. An extended content list is located on the author’s website. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Just a head's up, this is horror erotica. This isn't dark romance, and it honestly isn't for the faint of heart. Read the trigger warnings before going in. It is pitch black, made me gag at times, and pretty much made me question my life choices.

If there's one thing about Audrey's writing, I know I will be unwell by the end of it. But in saying that, I enjoy the ride every time.

If you've read Audrey's work previously, you won't be surprised that it will be dark, but the depravity from the mcs is always eye-opening, and you never expect what they will do.

This was such a wild ride and excuse me, that plot twist? That came out of nowhere and left my jaw on the floor until the end.

I love that the characters are flawed and aren't some type of ideal that you can make excuses for. The MC is just downright awful and is unapologetic for his actions. Same goes for the FMC, you think you know who she is, bit when she embraces who she truly is, things get interesting.

This lost a star for me because of the dialogue. "I'm a toilet- his human toilet"
"What a good little toilet whore" and "...I giggle at myself. I'm a literal trash bag now". I couldn't take the characters seriously then 😆
The last few chapters of the book felt a bit rushed and clunky as well. But those were my only criticisms.

If you want to go for a dark and depraved ride with writing that will give you a visceral reaction. This is it!

This is how you do erotic horror. This is not dark romance. All of the triggers are well represented. Audrey is a mastermind when it comes to knowing how to push you right to (and sometimes past) the edge of uncomfortable but keep you wanting to read more. This is definitely the most depraved and crazy book I've read ever. It was so well done and plot twists had me shocked and speed reading to find out what was going to happen next.
