“Humanity has always been suffused with baseless hatred toward those not who are not like themselves…”
An epic journey.
Good versus evil.
Civilization having been reborn from the ashes of a world destroyed.
War, magic, evil sorceresses …
This book truly has it all and it’s only one installment of one of the most epic series I’ve ever read.
Even as this manages to be a great escape with the speculative fiction elements, it still maintains ties to reality as Wind works in very real bits of today’s life as the reasons for the state of the fictitious world. It is brilliant and thought-provoking and worthy of multiple reads.
Character development is advanced throughout the series, as is world building and development.
Each book manages to wrap up its respective journey/drama/etc. but still completely left me wanting more of the world.
Strongly recommend; this as well as the entire series.
5 stars.
