44 Chapters About 4 Men

NETFLIX NEWS! The 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN series is being adapted into a steamy Netflix dramedy series called SEX/LIFE, coming soon! Now a Top 100 Amazon Bestseller and winner of the After Dark Book Lovers Shortie Award for Best Debut of 2016. School psychologists aren’t supposed to write books about sex. Doing so would be considered “unethical” and “a fireable offense.” Lucky for you, ethics was never my strong suit. After spending years trying to spice up my sex life, I gave up and took to my journal. Perhaps my gorgeous, cold, number crunching husband simply wasn’t capable of the kind of passion I’d come to expect. After all, my ex-boyfriends—a tattoo artist turned U.S. Marine turned motorcycle club outlaw, a baby-faced punk rocker out on parole, and a heavy-metal bass player—were every bit as tattooed and testosterone-fueled as the leading men in my favorite romance novels. If I couldn’t have that kind of passion again in real life, I could at least write about it. Right? Nobody had to know. It would be my little secret. Well, guess what? My husband read that shit. And guess what else? He upped his fucking game. Drunk with power and under the dubious advisement of my best friend and colleague, I began testing the limits—crafting journal entries specifically designed to manipulate Ken’s behavior. For the most part, he responded beautifully … except when he didn’t.

    2.5/5

I wanted something light and fun to read but this was NOT my cup of tea. Even though it's written by a woman with a female protagonist, this book doesn't pass the Bechdel test. BB seems to spend her entire life courting the attention of men and then becomes obsessed with making her husband have more exciting sex with her (not unreasonable) and get her name tattooed on his body (totally unreasonable). The sex scenes are simultaneously excessive and bland, and the number of times the word "slippery" was used really annoyed me.

    Real, Hot, Fun

This book has been sitting on my TBR list for so long I didn’t know if I would ever get to it.

    I’m so glad I did.

It was emotional and funny and real and STEAMY. (Should I have listen to the audiobook at work? Eh.)

It was a spectacular journey to have gone on. And now I’m excited to read the other books in the series before the Netflix show drops!
