Since I already have a List for women, I wanted to make one for men's memoirs and (auto)biographies - specifically books I think are fascinating, little known, and need more attention. Some of these men might be role models, but that's not really the point: most just had interesting lives, or lived in interesting times. Suggestions welcome.
