Sometimes we need a little bit more out of horror books. What’s better than adding creepy art?! From ghosts and monsters to serial killers and slow descents into madness, this is a list of graphic novels that delve into the dark. Some are stand-alones and some are part of a series, I’ve only included the first of these to save my sanity (and space). Recommendations encouraged Please no Marvel or DC

"What a midwesterner he was, a thoroughly unhip guy with his heart in the usual place, on the sleeve, in plain sight." — Charles Baxter, The Feast of Love

Fiction that embodies the experience of being Midwestern and full of big feelings: depression, yearning, being lost in a cornfield

deep dark old woods -- weird small towns -- ancient gods -- horrors beyond comprehension -- A Welcome to Elderfield inspired list

Books that have a character named Eliot/Eliott/Elliot/Elliott in them (side characters count too)

We don't discriminate! Whether its a novella, graphic novel, collection of essays or anthology, if its fun horror, then its on here!

A mix of anthologies, standalones, and series. Many are indie!
