Art is Political!
Creative expression x political themes

In the Eye of the Beholder
Nonfiction books and essays about visual art and how it functions as a mirror to ourselves. They discuss art's meaning, its interpretations, how art changes through our eyes, the effects of systematic discrimination upon how art is made and consumed, and help to develop better, more critical, and more introspective ways of looking at art and our museums.
Recommendations welcome!

History Through A Female Lens
The majority of history has been, and still is, written by men. Even when men write about women in history, they often get it wrong, distort the truth to fit moral or political narratives, or just plain have no idea what the female experience is so they miss whatโs actually important.
Here is a list of some of history written by female authors, who are looking at history through their female gaze - not through the lense of what men have decided is history.
Suggestions welcome!

It's the History of Man
Inspired by Maisie Peters' song "History of Man", this list includes novels and nonfiction books that deal in some way with themes surrounding the subjugation of women and misogyny, such as unequal power dynamics in romantic relationships, subversion of stereotypes and societal expectations of motherhood. May prompt female rage.

Art History for the Intersectional Feminist
