the coquette femme aesthetic is of the utmost importance

Here you’ll find a multitude of children’s books featured in the 1998 film You’ve Got Mail, which, if you’re unfamiliar, heavily features a children’s bookstore called The Shop Around the Corner. Nothing brings me joy quite like children’s literature and 90s nostalgia, so I have painstakingly studied the shelves featured in the film to bring this list to life. I hope that at least one book here unlocks a nostalgic memory for you, or at least conjures a smile of recognition.

A novel is a prose work typically above 40k words, though many fall between 60-100k. Anything between roughly 17k and 40k words is generally considered a novella, while works between about 7k and 17k words are classified as novelettes, with some flexibility ~

TL;DR - short stories with 7k-17k words. Get out of that slump.

Books with a rabbit on the cover, of course. Or a hare.

Classic novels for your (inner) child, with some modern staples in the mix. For reading yourself, reading aloud to little ones, and for those learning to read. Suggestions welcome, as always!

A collection of slightly dark, spooky, or existential books for children whose imaginary friend just might have been a ghost, who fantasized about being an orphan, or who would have appreciated the Well for Sensitive Boys to gaze into. A mix of titles from my millennial childhood with some newer additions.

the books I read if I'm wanting something short. From horror, to classics, to confusing stories I had to think twice about. you name the genre I'll eventually have it here (all ≈80 pages and under I hope, and standalone)

These are about 100 pages (or less)! Will depend on how it's printed, but basically: YOU'LL FLY THROUGH THESE! ✈️

pov: you’re nine years old and unboxing your mother’s old, dusty books and vintage toys, which will soon become a core memory of your girlhood. ༺❀♡❀༻ coming-of-age feminine stories that are old-fashioned, wondrous and romantic.

Classics can often feel very unapproachable even for adult readers, but here are some that either are for children, or children can enjoy!

Series I read as a kid that belong in every library.
