Recs if you like When We Were Magic...

in progress

Basically, a huge list of every book I ever heard features sapphic characters.

I have not read all of these, so I cannot be sure of the amount of the time on page of the sapphic characters or of the quality of the books.

Some of these I do not plan to read at all, since they are not my style. If you feel like a book doesn't belong here, let me know.

For my favs / read, check out my other lists & shelves.

Open to suggestions for more titles.

Don't shoot the messenger.

A collection of sapphic fantasy books that I have seen recommended across tiktok

It's Lesbian visibility week! Here are 100+ books starring lesbians! Includes some non-fiction about lesbian women. (This list is presented by Duck Prints Press, the indie publisher focused on publishing queer art and stories by queer creators! A group of us collaborate to make these recommendations.)

Something sapphic this way comes 🏳️‍🌈✨ (and also something queer in general bc I am here for all the queer in all the witchy settings, but there are a looooot more sapphic witch books than any other LGBTQ identity so that will take up the majority of the list!)

All of these are from the list that Texas lawmaker Matt Krause in October of 2021 tried and in many cases succeeded to get banned from classrooms and school libraries. There are quite a few interesting and odd choices in there which is part of why I wanted to share this list on here. Not necessarily recommendations but there are some pretty good books on here. As well as a lot of textbooks

Happy International Women's Day! Have a huge pile of our favorite books starring queer women (fiction and non-fiction!). (This list is presented by Duck Prints Press, the indie publisher focused on publishing queer art and stories by queer creators! A group of us collaborate to make these recommendations.)

In October 2021, Texas State Representative Matt Krause initiated an inquiry targeting a list of approximately 850 books in Texas public schools, alleging they could cause "discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress" regarding race or sex. The list disproportionately targeted LGBTQ+ topics, race/racism, and sex education.

This is my project to read through this list for myself - utilizing my local library system for access to these titles. Follow the journey or join along!

an alternative for those who want to be whisked away to a magical school, that may or may not be deadly at times, created by lovely humans who aren't terfs! Misfits & Magic is such a fun, campy 2 season long D20 side quest on Dropout with a small cast reclaiming tropes and ideas that shouldn't belong to just one terrible person. I made sure to include queer and trans fantasies with school settings and just general good feeling stories!

A collection of all kinds of wlw books from all kinds of genres!

I wish I had a list like this growing up. So here is a list of books that are queer or otherwise include queer rep, but don’t have a same sex couple on the cover. Let’s help people explore without feeling they have to hide it. This list is for readers of all ages. You’re never too old to explore 😉 If it’s a series, only the first book is listed. Feel free to comment suggestions!

Magic exists in these worlds and the characters wield it well

Pretty self explanatory
