This list is in progress, please recommend in the comments! Especially interested in:

• positive exchanges between people of different generations, especially BIPOC and marginalized people
• characters learning about organizing from people of other generations
• multigenerational family stories with multiple trans/queer characters

In all seriousness, this list started as a joke but then turned serious when I realized there are still a ton of books that feel like essential butch reading to me that I still need to get to!! So much LGBTQ+ history! A lot of this is centered in the US, though there are some exceptions and I'm trying to grow it all the time. Note that I have an HIV / AIDS list that a lot of queer history, especially around the 80s + 90s. So check that one out for more

a masterlist of non-fiction (including memories) books on Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. many of these are from my classes in university. however, I have not read all the books on this list, so some are included based on the summary, reviews, and of course your suggestions!

Whether it be information about gender affirming care, advocating for trans students, or history of gender, this list has it. Basically, it's all things about trans, just not fiction.
