Vampires Are Real, and Valentine Delgado is Living with One In Pete's defense, he was here first. Since 1986, Pete the vampire has been hibernating in the basement of his Pittsburgh home, hoping to pass a hundred years in peaceful slumber. At some point, that home stopped being his—and in 2026, it started being Val's. One faulty water heater and a disturbed coffin later, Pete's been woken up sixty years ahead of schedule. Valentine Delgado is not too keen on sharing his new place with an undead roommate at first—but Pete holds all the cards, what with the whole “blood-sucking monster” thing. Val thinks he’s done for until Pete suggests a compromise: run a few errands for the vampire here and there, and Val will get to stay in his house. In other words, be the Renfield to Pete's Dracula. It would be a perfect arrangement, but as they get closer, Val realizes there's one big problem: the vampire, as goofy as he may be, is exactly Val's type. Sleeping with a vampire is already a bad idea, and sleeping with a roommate is an even worse one. But sleeping with a roommate who's also a vampire? It might be the dumbest and LAST thing Valentine Delgado will ever do.
