Opposites attract. The first time I heard that phrase was in science class, the second time was when I started dating. Those two words are painfully true for me. I have a deep attraction to emotionally unavailable, mean men with deep scowls and sharp tongues. What can I say? There’s just something about them. Him in particular. The moody stranger who sits in the corner of my bar, sipping whiskey, complaining about the patrons singing on my makeshift stage, and telling me that cute girls like me don’t belong in dumps like this. Except, this is my dump. My future. My dream. Things only get worse for my attraction when he finally gets up and sings. With the confidence he exudes, and the optimism I cling to, I find my way into his bed, And then I find out his dreams. I want to help him see them come true. And he wants the same for me too. But a selfish act is hard to come back from. He was bitter when I met him. But I’m the bitter one now. Bitter Riff is an age gap MF with a HEA and no cliffhanger. It features mature themes and content that may not be suitable for all audiences. Full CW can be found in the authors note. It is book 2 of The Muse Series, which will consist of four connecting standalone stories, therefore each story can be read alone.

Bitter Riff is the second book in the Muses series. You can read it as a standalone but Enchanted Lyrics is so good you should read it too.

Bitter Riff is the story of Juniper (Juno) and Nate. They meet and there is an instant spark between them, but Nate is dealing with some heavy issues so he pushes her away. In part due to mental illness, he always sees that people are going to leave him and nothing works out positively for him. He explains this to her after a situation arises and they grow close. Due in part to miscommunication and because he can't believe that things are going to turn out for him, Nate pushes her away. There are a couple of heartbreaking scenes between them and while you can completely understand why they react the way they do given the history that you have, you are still pulling for them to find the way through. There is a grand gesture on Nate's part and a lovely epilogue that just makes this whole book worth it!
