an alternative cover edition can be found here Ignited by accident, fueled by fate. Some bonds burn brighter than any flame. Kade Mills has spent over a decade dreaming of his ideal meet-cute. Surely the universe wouldn't toss the perfect mage at him while he's a scarred shadow of his former flirtatious self, recovering from his last encounter with the malicious spirits haunting his pack's territory. Liam Batiste is a man of simple pleasures; a quiet room and a stack of books are all he needs to be happy. He's only in Lost Creek to help his friend save the Mills pack from the unknown evil infesting their land, but everything changes when he and Kade are paired up to capture the supernatural threat. After a run-in with a spirit leaves them entangled—physically and magically—they must learn to control the newfound power their unwanted connection grants them. As they struggle to resist the heady pull of their bond, they begin to realize it may hold the key to defeating the dark forces that are endangering far more than just Kade's pack… and perhaps it's not as unwelcome as they first thought. Impulsive Connections is a steamy 149k M/M paranormal romance featuring a playboy wolf shifter, a nerdy mage, and friends who are trying their very best not to meddle. This simmering slow burn is perfect for readers who love reluctant mates, unintended bonds, forced proximity, unfortunate bed shortages, and knotting. While it guarantees a happy ending for its main couple, the overarching plot does contain cliffhangers, and the series should be read in order. Please look inside for content warnings. (This series does not contain mpreg.)

This was another 3 stars but again, thinking of how long this books are and the glacial pacing of the plot I just can't bring it higher.
I'm an outlier here, every other review loves this book. I don't dislike it tho, I'm just very meh about it.
Liam and Kade were very cute, until they weren't. Their stupidity got old very fast and if you remove from this book the words dick and cock you can cut it in half. I'm not kidding, this characters can only make dick jokes and they only talk about fuckin and knots. I'm a smutty girl I enjoy smut like any other smut reader but this is not ittttttt!!!
For starters, there's practically no smut in this book. One kinda dubcon scene in the beggining and then the whole book is about them NOT fucking although they die to do so because again neither of them want the bond and by the time they - individually - realize they DO want the bond they think the other one doesn't and the book keeps going like that aaaaaaaaaand again, the plot just goes to a halting stop waiting for the romance to keep the fucking pace up.
Unlike the previous book there's an attempt at worldbuilding here... it makes very little sense. I understand nothing about this world. Also... what the fuck do Victor and Kade do for a living? because being alpha and second does not give them wages. It is said that some pack members have jobs in town... okay, where the fuck does the pack money come from????? previously, it is stated that the pack mages earned quite a bit, ok. Cool.. what about the other packs? and this questions are not even lore related they're just common sense related.
Honestly, I have no interest in Aran's book that is coming next. His powers are cool but he's a very tiring character to read - he only speaks in dick jokes an innuendos- it's stated that when he gets serious he's a power to be reckon but the author has only kinda shown this ONCE, briefly. Besides, his story takes places after he gets kiddnaped? He was eye fuckin the "straight" guy Pierce so... if that's his romantic plotline I'm out. Making your kiddnaper gay it's not something I would be interested in reading. Also, they will most likely force a bond because that's the whole point of the kiddnaped and that makes it several times lest appealing.
I do wanna read Miles book. He and Grant are so cute I really do love an age gap story and the older guy even has a child? sign me in. But I guess.. 2026 for that book IF that is in fact the pairing the author is aiming for. Which looks like it but who knows. -Also, please I want to read the scene where they do the ritual for the wards... we are there for the start and we only get a morning after text??? Liam and Kade weren't even doing anything interesting during that time ;o;-
