This story is so, so, so wonderful. There aren’t a lot of books out there that deal with divorce or separation in this way. There is often a “good guy” and “bad guy” in these stories, a spouse that was done wrong. I cannot tell you how refreshing it was to have both the hero and heroine of this story realize what their own part was in the demise of their marriage.

Obviously, I am a huge fan of the HEA books. This story gives a peek at what can happen years after the HEA, when the monotony of life in general gets in the way of that initial passion. Don’t worry, there’s a second HEA for these characters. And one of the things I truly appreciate the author adding into their epilogue is the line, “Their life wasn’t perfect…”

Libby and Quinn are still so in love but they just don’t know how to talk to each other. One little thing led to another year after year until it seemed to be too late to rehash all of it. This story has some super steamy and erotic scenes, but there’s also this amazing opening up that Quinn and Libby finally do with each other that is just so tender and intense. Although this is a novella, there is a lot of emotion packed into the pages.

I’m going to admit that I don’t exactly remember which of the previous books we “met” Libby and Quinn. I remember the circumstances and all of that, but not which book. But if you’ve read this series you have seen these two before. I was intrigued by them from that first moment…a McKay marriage that wasn’t exactly wine and roses. I was super curious about their circumstances and felt that some of the McKay women were a bit overbearing. I, personally, think it was one of the issues in the marriage and I like that it was addressed. Granted, Quinn was mostly unaware of how Libby was made to feel by the older McKay women…but as he said himself, what kind of husband does that make him? Being unaware isn’t a great excuse.
