Non-Humans & Empathy (Fiction, Realistic)
One of several Non-Humans & Empathy -themed lists by @Myth.Ink (See also: Non-Fiction, GNs/Manga+, Youth Titles, Creature Feature, & the Official @Myth.Ink Curation) | This list is the FICTION edition, including fictional interactions and considerations of interactions between plausibly realistic non-human beings of all types (trees, robots, animals, ai, aliens, objects, science-experiment beings, etc) and humans, empathy and lack thereof. | Suggestions more than welcome!

Solarpunk Sci-Fi
I did some digging for a bookclub and gathered some solarpunk books, and why not share them here? (I haven't read them all) If you have more suggestions I'll add them😊
Solarpunk is a sci-fi subgenre that envisions futures build on renewable energy, greentech and community. It is mostly meant to offer a positive alternative to dystopian visions of the future. The punk aspect is usually seen as the vision of the positive future, which is considered radical and rebellious itself.

Titles that hurt 💥🥊
Whether you know what the book is about or not, some titles hit like a punch to the gut.

Cozy Sci-Fi
Sci-fi books that I feel are hopeful and have a cozy, often slice-of-life vibe. Some of these could also fall under the solar punk category.
Note: I have not read all of these (and some I’ve dnfed/disliked) but I wanted to include all the cozy sci fi that I know of.

one robot allowed because they look very polite

I think, therefore I short-circuit
Sentient constructs who didn’t ask to be born but now have to grapple with ethics, personhood, and the inconvenient need to fight monsters—both literal and systemic. A collection of books that explores the many shades of “otherness” in human lives through robotic ones.

Sentient robots
I love any and all sentient machines and you will too.

When family found you at the end of the world
Found family at its finest in sci-fi and fantasy. This is one of my favourite themes and these are some of my fave reads within that group ❤️
Some books are part of a series, but only the first book is on the list, even if the family takes some time to develop beyond that.

Cozy Reads for a Rainy Day
Some of the coziest low-stakes reads that make for a great rainy day or comfort read with a hot beverage and a fluffy blanket. Mostly fantasy, with some other genres sprinkled in. Some are light and fluffy while others are a little more emotional. Some are about the journey and others aim for adventure.

Don't sleep on these underrated reads
