What can I say? Amazing female characters, Lara Jean - I wish I could be her, or her friend, but mostly I just want to be one of the Song sisters. This book left me breathless. The romance bits aren't usually my thing, but Jenny Han writes so well, that I can't even roll my eyes at it. And, there are so many other layers going on ... it's just a perfect sequel.
Jenny Han is always a such a nice experience for me, especially with Lara Jean.
She's such a hopeless romantic but she still has her feet on the ground and knows her own value and it's sooo refreshing to see a girl indulging in her hobbies and community by being who she is instead of changing who you are and what you believe in for a boy. Even if the boy is the most popular guy in school.
This does not mean that Lara Jean is perfect, far from it and it only makes us love her even more. She's the embodiment of the teenage spirit (or the positive side of it) with college anxiety, promposal expectations, everyday family drama and gosh, am I jealous over the fact that she can be so creative and always have cookies lying around the house and cute outfits!
It still has it's charm from the first book and is very cutesy there are darker parts with betrayal, insecurities, jealousy and a streak of mean I would not have anticipated but fit either way, giving the characters more growth and depth. Would recommend it to anyone looking for an easy and fun read.
Enjoy!
