Recs if you like Demon Song...

Horror books with a page count of 200 pages or less.

Before we started defining novellas by word count, they were defined as being any book less than 200 pages. Source: my Analysis of Short Stories & Literature professor in community college. I loved that class. But he loved James Joyce. So, ymmv, I guess.

We all love gothic classics, but what is new when it comes to the gothic genre (from the last 20 years or so)?! For fans of Dracula, Jane Eyre, Frankenstein, We Have Always Lived in the Castle, etc. Please comment with suggestions to add!

Books set in an Asian or Asian-inspired setting or incorporates elements of an Asian culture or mythology. Only the first book in a series is listed.

Books that are just as good as the cover promises. AKA: Fantastic book covers that also happen to be fantastic books! List will be added to in the future because I can’t leave well enough alone. (Suggestions welcome, leave it in the comments.)

Natalie Naudus has narrated hundreds of audiobooks so bear with me as I try to get them all on this list!

Botanical, Southern and Just Plain Gothic Horror

Is October a busy season for you? These books are short and sinister. Short fiction is the perfect format for horror - the tight word count allows for the tension to hold taut for the entirety of the story instead of that slow-burning dread. Tuck one in here or there between novels or before bed to break a reading slump or cleanse the palate.
