Craig Groeschel is a gifted communicator; that’s just a fact. So you already know Dangerous Prayers is not only well-written but it’s just a phenomenal read. But it’s not just the storytelling that makes it so great. The Word of God is so powerful, full of life, and multi-faceted. So often, I feel like we can sleep on how much scripture can be used throughout our lives. You can do so much more than read and study the Bible. You can sing the scriptures. You can use them to inspire your art. And you can pray the scriptures. Each of the dangerous prayers is based on and inspired by a scripture/verse. And at the end of the book, more dangerous prayers are included and those are verses as well. This book was such a great reminder to me that I’ll always have words to pray. Sometimes it can seem like you’ve run out of or can’t find the words, but we have the literal Word, the Bible. So I loved that aspect and reminder. Of the prayers, surprisingly, my favorite wasn’t one of the main three prayers that Groeschel focuses on; rather it was Sir Francis Drake’s prayer, “Disturb Us.” I definitely recommend this book to believers, new and seasoned. Dangerous Prayers definitely encourages you to dig deep and take an honest look at where you are in your walk and in your prayer life. It’s also super encouraging and reminds you that we weren’t called for comfort.
