Recs if you like Utopia...

The books that have always been there, warning that these things might be coming if we don't change. So pick one up, grab a fridge cigarette, and let it sharpen your rage into something constructive.

dystopian: relating to or denoting an imagined state or society where there is great suffering or injustice.

Books which have video game adaptations or are cited as heavy inspirations for them. I love both books & games as mediums & feel there is more connection between them than oft credited. Obviously, creatives are influenced by innumerable things, but it's awesome when developers, etc. share their inspirations. Please say if there are others you know of!

dystopian novels under 200 pages, including short stories

I study literature and this has been my curriculum through the years. OBS: Curriculums change depending on school and country, etc. Updating as I go along.

A variety of books recommended by a librarian (appropriate for students aged 11-16 as well).

Non-fiction books about the renaissance. Books written during or leading up to the renaissance. and fiction books set during the renaissance.

Classic political works from before World War II. Some have modern publication dates because they have only received translations in the past couple of years; as long as the original work was published before 1939, it counts.
