Deadly power. Stunning beauty. She will not be controlled. Sixteen-year-old Beth’s ordinary life is shattered the night her dormant magic awakens and she almost kills her boyfriend. Horrified at what she’s done, she flees into the fae realm to find the siren mother who disowned her a decade ago. When it turns out her power cannot be controlled, she is once again cast out from the siren community. Alone and afraid, Beth winds up in the Dark North where a group of witches rescues her. Honestly, reading this was worse than the slowest and cruelest torture you can imagine.

Okay, maybe that's dramatic. But seriously.

It was so long (like yes I know it was only 120 pages but it was about 60 pages too long). It was so boring. It had pretty much ZERO connection to the Creepy Hollow series. Creepy Hollow was super fun, but what the fuck was this? It was boring AF. I kept forgetting it actually took place in the Creepy Hollow universe. Scarlett was a pretty minor character to begin with, but then there was very little connection to Creepy Hollow so I was just like WHY.

Then, finally, at the end, when things actually FUCKING HAPPENED AND GOT INETERESTING, there was literally NO PAYOFF. Like why did they want Scarlett? Why were they such dicks to her? Why did they need her to be a witch?? I was so confused. TBH the only thing worthwhile in this book was Scarlett murdering Thoren because that was dope.
