Through illustration and poetry, Seeds Planted in Concrete is Bianca Sparacino’s raw testament to the beauty that is found within the contrasts of life. By writing truthfully about the intricacies of both love and loss, Sparacino’s first collection of work is one that will speak to the very depths of those who read it, inspiring a will to love, and live. This collection is a manifesto of the journey every human being takes throughout their life; an assembly of words that celebrates the resilience of the human heart through stages of hurting, feeling, healing and loving.

poetry is a personal experience that drives to the heart of reading, which is this: we read to know that we are not alone. it makes me happy that the most recent poetry books i've read have been recommendations from treasured friends because i've forgotten how magical and mortifying poetry was. as audre lorde and jeanette winterson said: for women, poetry is not a luxury. it's vital to existence. people who say it is have had things pretty easy. a tough life needs a tough language — and that's what poetry is. it isn't a hiding place. it is a finding place.
your heartbeat is too a song—and it is quite possibly the truest, most beautiful soundtrack to your life.
When I ask you about your first love, I am always secretly hoping that you will say your own name.
