Moving beyond media spectacle and sensational narratives, these books examine the psychological, sociological, and historical frameworks that define high-control groups. Included are also non fiction books that provide insightful portrayals of cults and their impact on individual identity as well as group behavior.

I love books that have some unique feature that is best enjoyed as a physical book, rather than e-book or audio. An example could be that it has footnotes, appendices, non-linear storytelling, or requires frequent flipping of pages.

In this digital age, it’s fun to find books where the physical book has an advantage. It’s also a factor I use when purchasing books at the bookstore.
