“It’s only you, Huckslee. It’s only ever been you.”
This book was EVERYTHING, I loved it so much. Reading Finding Delaware felt like I was on a rollercoaster ride and gave me all the feels. I loved everything about this book and all the characters.
Taylor and Huckslee are everything.
I loved these two broken boys so much. This book is not just about stepbrothers who are attracted to each other. Both Taylor and Huckslee are damaged in their own ways while finding love with each other along the way. Huckslee has a lot of expectations and pressure placed on him and Taylor trapped by the trauma he can’t escape.
Finding Delaware is a beautiful story that despite all the darkness, Taylor and Huckslee’s story is a glimmer of love and hope. It’s about fighting your demons, forgiveness, and redemption. It’s about how your past doesn’t define you and you can always start over. It’s about learning to love yourself despite your scars.
Their love is not perfect but that’s not what love should be. Love is trial and error and embracing all the good and bad that comes with it.
For a debut novel this book is very impressive. I loved the way she wrote Taylor and Huckslee, I can tell this story was very well thought out and meaningful to the author. The author definitely has a talent for writing heartbreaking and emotional scenes. Despite how long the book is I liked how the story wasn’t rushed and it was well paced with the proper writing about sensitive topics with trauma and mental health rep. I adored the found family in this story and all the characters was beautifully written.
Reading this book is definitely life changing and Taylor and Huckslee will forever be a special place in my heart.
Thank you to the author for sending me an ARC to read and review, Finding Delaware will be out on October 21, 2024. Please check the TW before reading.
4.5 stars. I loved and adored this. I haven’t read something to eat me alive since wrath so I will be forever grateful. The ending was just a tad slow which is why I took off .5
