I was completely hooked on this small town and everyone in it and all their drama in ‘A Slow Burn’, a quick half-hour read that had SO MUCH going on in it.

This book keeps the pace and pretty much picks up where the other left off. Jackson and Annabelle are trying to make it work and clearly have deep feelings for one another, despite each one’s hesitation to admit it to the other. Jackson’s past shows up to haunt him, bringing Annabelle’s claws out AND Annabelle’s got a frienemy who only adds to the drama level. Just when things start to smooth out for the pair, or seem like they might anyway, all hell breaks loose.

Eden had already set the stage and developed the characters and the entire world really well. We get to see them more in-depth here and they’re all on point with what we saw previously.

There are laugh-out-loud moments, cringe-worthy drama, that I cannot get enough of, catfights and more all within this lovable and uniquely wacky small town. I cannot absorb the pages of this series fast enough!

The editing could use some help.
POV is fine, we get hers first-person and his third-person. It’s different and I like it. What I have a bit of a hard time with, is the tense isn’t consistent and there are instances of poor grammar and incorrect punctuation. However, it doesn’t change the message or scene at all, so you can still completely get lost in this book.

There’s a pretty high heat index and what I like about the sex scenes in this book, besides their hotness, is that they aren’t the same old tired sex scenes I feel like I read over and over again.

There’s a twist or two as well and as someone who predicts everything, I love this hard. It’s probably around 4 stars for me and would go up to 5 with another pass by a proofreader.

    Amazing read.
