Ember has been numb for the last year and half, since the death of her mate. Her mother, a Beta, has her sent to Goldcrest Academy until she is able to find an Alpha. The story starts off with referencing some events that occur in Secret Omega, which I hadn’t read, but it was explained enough that while I could tell there was likely another book, I didn’t feel lost. Those events shake up Ember, and she decides that she needs to get out, especially when the new headmistress decides to push more Alphas. When she escapes, Ember finds herself with a new pack and realizes some of her past was lies. I really loved Joe, he is sweet and nerdy and a little needy. Corbin is also sweet, but in a Neanderthal kind of way. He also has a sort of nerdy side. Victor is the leader, and the touchstone for the group. Then there is a surprise from the past. The story touched on some darker themes than I was expecting, but I felt it was handled well. The romance is fairly fast-paced and steamy. I really enjoyed this story and am looking forward to Brooke’s story next :)
