You’re sitting in a library lit by candlelight, it’s dark outside, the power is off and the boiler broken - so there’s a chill in the air, softened only by the flame from the candle you’re using to study. That’s when you hear it. A ghostly moan, loud enough to send shivers down your spine, but quiet enough that you can’t make out what the voice is saying at first.
The presence you feel comes closer, and that’s when you hear it.
“You’re gaaaaaaaaaaaay.”

Sticky Southern Nights Spent with Arnold Palmer
The feeling of growing up two miles from a Dollar General and getting yea ma’am-ed at 12 years old. People love to use Southern slang and talk about Waffle House like it’s a reality TV show but refuse to do their actual research into the South. If I see one more person acting like only inbred white supremacists live in the south (and only in the south) to eat their raw okra and liver mash I’m gonna lose it.
