Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

A werewolf hitman with a mysterious past... Hitman. Killer. Problem-solver. Dominic Prado is the best at what he does. When werewolves lose control, the Alpha sends Dominic to clean up the mess. It’s not a job to covet. It’s not well-suited to someone burdened by emotion. But it suits Dom just fine. After he lost the love of his life, he hasn’t felt much of anything at all. And he’s ready for a clean, easy kill. When he learns there’s a murderer on the loose in the Louisiana bayou, he signs on without a second thought. The last thing he expects to find at the end of his hunt is a trash-talking beauty with flashing green eyes, a body that won't quit…and a damn mean right hook. A latent female shifter on the run. As a latent werewolf, Lily Agincourt has spent the past five years on the fringes of wolf society—an outcast with few rights and almost no prospects for the future. On the other hand, being a latent means sidestepping the pressures of shifter life. Free from wolf politics and the obligatory search for a lifemate, she can live exactly as she chooses. But when she’s accused of murder, her life is instantly forfeit. There is no judge and jury for a latent—just an executioner. But when the man sent to kill her ends up in her bed—and stays there for days—hope blooms that she may just survive this, after all. Who knew an executioner’s arms could be so warm…or so pleasurably wicked? Will Dom help her prove her innocence? Or after taking her body, merely follow orders and take her life, as well...

I enjoyed this book a bit more. Something about it just spoke more to me.

The questions I had about Dom were answered. It was finally revealed what happened to the love of his life before Lily and why he tended to act the way he did.

    But I still have questions.

Lily stated that six months prior, she started going through a change. She found it harder to control her anger and she experienced lustful urges that took her at random times. According to Dom, there are two things this could mean: a latent is going feral or a werewolf is going through their first Turn. And with what was revealed at the end, I suppose it could be both? It was hard to say. This is the closest we get to having the POV of a latent at this point in the series and the next book follows a former latent who had been a teenager when she was finally able to Turn. So it is likely we will not get to see what it is like for a latent to go feral.

Regardless, I like how this book went. Dom isn't my favorite character but he was certainly one of the most interesting with how he acted most of the time. Enter Lily and everything changes. And now, thinking back, I really have to wonder if Dom's wolf didn't mind her challenging him because he liked her or because of what she was. I like to think it was the former but from the explanation given, it could easily also be the latter. Either way, Dom's wolf was all about protecting her so I guess it doesn't make a difference.

Either way, it was a fun book to read. I loved their dynamic and the ending was so perfect for Dom's story that I couldn't help but melt. They both deserve the ending they got and I can't wait to see what their new trouble will cause.

But that will be regulated to the background. Now it's time to head to the next book and see what trouble Haley will get up to. I'm going to enjoy this.
