Finally, Angus gets to do what he’s been wanting to do for years. Take down the serial killer who killed his sister once and for all…if he’s really still alive.
There are a lot of twists and turns to this story. There’s another serial killer on the loose and he’s baiting Angus and his team. Or it may be the same killer the FBI claims Angus took down years ago. This is the case that haunts Angus and was the catalyst for him getting his current team together. This book starts out with the reader finding out how Angus found out the killer may still be alive and how that turned into him getting his own secret deep ops team.
The whole team is involved in this case. They’re torn apart and built back up. It’s amazing to see how they have all truly become a family over the course of this series. Not only for the reader, but also for Angus. Someone who is truly in need of some family that will have his back no matter what.
As for the romance between Angus and Nari, it is incredible. Their fire and attraction have been on the peripheral of this series. Now that they may never see each other again, they give into that attraction. Their connection has a much deeper emotional aspect to it than I had anticipated, and I loved it! Angus has always come off as a bit uncaring, although it’s obvious he has a big heart since he is constantly trying to numb himself with alcohol. In this story, we get to see just how big his heart really is…and it’s enormous.
Nari was a bit of a mystery to me. Even with her in the other stories, I never felt I got a true feel for her. Let me tell you, I love Nari. She is compassionate and funny and smart and tough. She’s also been keeping some secrets from the team. With good reason, but still. Either way, I love me some Nari and was all in on her getting under Angus’ walls.
Although this story would be a natural conclusion to this series, I would love to see more books. If not in this particular series, maybe a spin-off. There are still some characters out there I’d like to see get an HEA.
