Book given to me through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
Nanette O'Hare is gliding through life; she's a star athlete on her soccer team, she is a good student, she has a good daughter. There is a lot though doesn't fit for her. For one, she hate soccer. She resents her friends who only seem to want to drink and have sex with boys. Then one day, her English teacher gives her a book to read, "The Bubblegum Reaper" and it changes everything for her.
With two middle fingers in the air Nanette decides to take matters in her own hands. So beings an adventure in learning about herself. I fully enjoyed this novel, it delves into the hard questions that a lot of teens are dealing with. Quick doesn't shy away from tough situations, ones that really challenge the norms.
This title is definitely for older teens, there is some profanity and sexual scenes that might be a little too intense and detailed for some readers. Quick asks the tough questions and often the answers are easy to swallow. A solid and complex read.
THIS BOOK. THIS BOOK. THIS BOOK! This was just everything I wanted and more. God this was just so good. I can't even describe how good this book is or how it just gets me despite it being like the total opposite of my life. It's just ughhhh. It's just really good.
