Just Between Us (King Family, #3)

Lena Hendrix

Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

Royal King is pure mischief wrapped in a cocky smirk and a heated stare. Five minutes in his small town and I knew he was going to be nothing but trouble. He’s an arrogant, tattooed playboy with a secret, and I’m the woman tasked with quietly cleaning up his family’s mess. I never dreamed he could be the mysterious stranger behind my hidden, late-night messages. It doesn’t matter what he says or how hard he tries to get under my skin. I won’t break. Not for him. Not for anyone. But when our secrets are exposed, all bets are off. He knows the rules—just a little fun exploration. Nothing more. But one lesson leads to another . . . and another . . . and soon I realize that he’s set out to break every rule I’ve ever put into place. I refuse to find myself melting under his gaze or swooning at the way he makes the noise around us quieter. I can handle men like him. Everything will be fine as long as we can keep this just between us.

3.25 stars. A really fun read, but also a great addition to this series about the King family. It really makes me wanna go back and read all about the Sullivan’s because they are playing such a prominent role in these books. The romance is fine and the couples are good, but what I really have been enjoying is the little suspense story, wondering what happened to their mother. Little threads and clues and bits of story has been sprinkled throughout these three books and I was really surprised we got a conclusion in this book. Not to mention, it’s just a fun town with some fun characters and I enjoy everyone’s interaction. I will say that Royal and Veda were a bit too unserious for me. Royal was really childish, and Veda was very prickly. But it’s kind of what they had to be for the sake of the story. So I get it. They both grew on me in time and the story was fun. The cliffhanger was crazy and I’m really looking forward to JP‘s story.
