Cassandra, an orphan living at a boarding school, receives a strange inheritance from her elderly aunt: a red lamp, a few pieces of cloth, and a picture of a gingerbread house. She discovers that the lamp is the handle to a secret door that lets her walk into the picture, and right into the middle of a war between a wizard and a sorceress.
