Cultural phenomenon mangas that have become global household names over the years. All of these series have defined or impacted the animanga culture globally, in one way or another. From international movie releases, live-action adaptations, and instantly recognisable titles, these are the mangas to read if you want to sound like you know what you're talking about. Mainstream? Starter pack? Maybe, but they're pop culture icons for a reason. Believe it!

Books that feature characters being sold by their parents as a premise or important character background. Your options include but are not limited to: the yakuza, cults, a literal demon. Your rewards: money, status, getting rid of children you don’t want.

List of banned books from index

Notable comics, graphic novels and mangas to get into the genre. This format of books is so underrated, so I wanted to create a diverse list of notable works across the history of 'comics'! I tried to highlight nonfiction and fiction works that are recognizable to the widest variety of people (mostly because of their adaptation), while also adding less widely known books. The goal of the list is to help find at least one 'comic' you want read, if you don't really read 'comics'! (inspired by Les 1001 BDs by Trécarré)

I wanted to collate all the largest and greatest manga completed series with the first and last volumes to help me look to what to read next but also maybe this list will be helpful for others.

If you have any recommendations please leave a comment (˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶)

these books have characters or themes that will make you think twice before RSVPing to the next cookout...

A list that highlights mangas that feel like a celebration of crosshatching, a fine line feast for the eyes, and an abundance of detail. Across the history of manga, illustrators express the style of their time through fashion, character designs, and human sized goblin hoards.

This is a mix bag of genres, check your tropes/trigger warnings. ❤️

Recommendations welcome! 🥰💞
