Friendly Futures
when you want to imagine this might all work out okay in the end after all; books set in utopian or at least semi-functional futures. suggestions always welcome!

Weird Worlds
Fantasy stories with weird and imaginative worldbuilding. Recommendations are welcome!

Bizarre Worlds
Tired of worlds in books that seem too grounded in reality? This is the list for you! It features speculative fiction (fantasy, sci fi, horror) and new weird books with worlds that are extremely different from anything found on earth. Only the first book in a series is included. I have not read most of the books on this list, so comment if you think a book doesnโt fit the spirit of the list. Iโm also always open to suggestions for books to add!

eco-fiction
Sci-fi, spec fic, and fantasy concerning itself with tbe environment.
Ecofiction is an elastic term, capacious enough to accommodate a variety of fictional works that address the relationship between natural settings and the human communities that dwell within them. โ Jonathan Levin

Androids and robots and AI! Oh my!
Curated list of our sentient non-organic friends (and lovers?!)

sci-fi with robots/AI featured
books with robots and/or AI that make me have big human feelings

Arthuriana Lite
Books that are retellings of, inspired by, or tangentially related to Arthurian mythology โจ
In 2025, I found myself completely by coincidence having read 5+ books with some sort of connection to Arthurian legend. I did not set out to do this but I enjoyed this unintended running theme to my reading that year. This list is not intended to be straight-up mythology but rather books that reference, retell, or spin off of Arthurian legend.

AI Sci-Fi for Technical Interested
Sometimes, it is hard for technical folks to find Science Fiction with AI that is actually realistic and enjoyable and does not feel like a fairy tale where AI can just do everything. I collected here a bunch of my favorites!
