From USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Becca Steele, comes an all-new standalone M/F academy romance. Knox Ashcroft. One of the so-called gods of Hatherley Hall. He’s everything I despise–a spoiled, arrogant, lacrosse-playing rich boy. From the moment we met, he made it clear that the loathing was mutual. I don’t belong in his world, and he wants me gone. Too bad for him, I’m not leaving until I get what I came for. Everyone has skeletons in the closet, right? I’ll uncover his. I just have to make sure he doesn’t discover mine. Cruel Crypts is the first book in the Gods of Hatherley Hall series, and is a standalone M/F new adult academy romance with enemies to lovers themes.

They have a plan: become indispensable, get close to the family, and find the evidence they need to exact their revenge. “Justice would be served. And if Knox Ashcroft tried to get in my way, I’d make sure he’d regret it.” I loved all the characters of in this book. Elena was relatable, strong, and graceful. She has a backbone but isn’t overly aggressive when standing up for herself. Knox is arrogant and spoiled, but underneath is sweet and caring. I also loved Anthony and Maria so much, as well as all Elena’s friends. The plot was suspenseful and had a lot of secrets. Although I knew it wasn’t a dark romance going in I kept expecting those darker elements, but I loved that they weren’t there. It made the book feel more believable and enveloping. The characters are younger than I usually like to read, both of them being 18, but I found I really enjoyed this read and actually found myself wanting to read the next standalone in the series. •·················•·················• Safety • • • • • • • 👩🏼❤️👨🏻 POV: dual first person 🧑🧒 Ages: 18H, 18h 🌟Virgins: None 👤 OM/OW: None in main dynamic 🗯️ Cheating: None in main dynamic, mentions of side character cheating in past 🥊 Condoms: Used in beginning, halfway through usage stops 🏷️ Tropes: enemies-to-lovers, academy/prep school, forced proximity, he falls first, revenge, possessive mmc 🔥Kinks: light bondage 🚩Triggers: car accident, grief, murder, rage 💫 HEA: yes ❤️ 🌈 Epilogue: yes, 9 months later (no pregnancy)
I devoured this book! The way the story started gave off wattpad feels - from the setting to its structure - but it was interesting enough to keep my attention. I liked how, I, as the reader was also trying to determine what the FMC’s secret was even though I was reading from their point of view. I also enjoyed how the pieces came together regarding the unraveling of it all. All in all, it was a quick enjoyable read with likable characters.
P.S. a moment for the cover please! love ittt
