This story pulled me in from the start and kept me hooked until the end. Sasha and Ezra met as teens and always had an attraction, yet they had years full of the timing not being right. Now they’re in a situation where Ezra and his son Gus are very integrated into Sasha’s family and her family’s business. If they were to act on their feelings and things go wrong it can hurt so many people, especially young Gus.
The tension between these two is stellar. Of course, they cannot deny their pull much longer and once they give into it they decide it must be kept a secret. Ezra and Sasha are caring and considerate people, so keeping such a huge secret from family and friends is not easy. Especially since the more time they secretly spend together, the harder it is to keep from showing affection in front of others. I could feel their yearning to hug, hold hands, and just reach out and touch.
I loved Sasha’s relationship with Gus. Honestly, I love the whole family’s relationship with Gus. He’s been living on the ranch since he was a baby and he is loved and indulged while also being taught life lessons about kindness. Sasha has always been in Gus’s life and is much more of a maternal figure to him than his biological mother. While Ezra does his best to keep his ex-wife in Gus’s life it’s getting to the point that it may not be what is best for the child. On the other hand, Sasha is a constant and steady presence in Gus’s life long before Ezra gives in to his feelings for her.
There is so much love in this book of so many types. Love of family and friends, romantic love, and the special love and protectiveness of a child. It left me with such a warm feeling when I was done.
