Ten years ago, they joined the CIA. Six years ago, he left the game. Five years ago, they fell in love. One year ago, she ran out into the cold with absolutely no intention of ever coming back. And two minutes ago, they woke up, bloody and bruised and handcuffed together in the dark. They don’t know where they are. They don’t know how they got there. And they have absolutely no idea who is after them or what this nameless, faceless villain wants. The only thing that’s clear is that, after ten years of covers and chemistry, secrets and lies, these two rival spies have been sucked into their greatest mission yet, and now they’re going to have to team up to stay alive. (If they don’t kill each other first.)

Alex and King have been at each others throats since the first day of spy school. Through the years, they’ve been paired up for countless missions, partially due to the insane chemistry they share, and partially because they’re the best team. They find themselves waking up handcuffed to each other in Vegas & must save themselves and then backtrack to find where they’ve been the last 48 hours. This enemies to lovers story shares flashbacks to previous missions in both Alex and King’s point of view, putting the puzzle together of how and why they ended up tied up in Vegas by Russians. I can’t get over how much I enjoyed this book. I genuinely could not put it down. While the Alex and King’s story was a major plot, the story kept up with the spy plot line, using humor throughout. I loved reading this mashup of my favorite genres, thrillers and rom-com! Sexy, badass spies, a love story, and career defining moments are all tied together brilliantly by Ally Carter!
Ah! Fun, action packed, full of tension, beautiful people blowing things up. 2 people have amnesia, but just lose the last 48 hours when they wake up hand cuffed together. Alex meets King on the night before “spy school “, and she keeps calling it spy school to annoy King. He tells her she can’t hack it and to go home. But he’s really thinking Alex is the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen and she’s going to wreck him. We time hop between present day while Alex and King try to figure out why someone is trying to kill then, and the 10 prior years of them fight/flirting on jobs. The reader doesn’t know what’s going on in any time line, but we know they were together or almost together at some point but now they aren’t. Lots of tension, YEARNING, world travel, and suspense. I really enjoyed this. A fun follow up to the first book. I wanted Alex and King to get their HEA. And we even get a little of Zoe and Sawyer. Arc provided by the publisher.
