And that is a dangerous combination. The closer Camille and I become, the more obvious it is that while she and I are compatible in many ways, our destinies are not. She has a duty to the monarchy, and I’m just an average American who’s fallen for a princess. Everyone says we can’t be together, but how does one walk away from the other half of their heart?

Trust me, give Princess Camille a chance. I’ll admit that my first impression of her wasn’t very complimentary. I’m sure, now that I’ve read this story, that the author did this by design. Camille is actually a wonderful person.
Camille and Jackson have the most important thing when it comes to a romance novel…off the charts chemistry. I mean, they are hot enough to set the pages on fire. There is a bit of a slow burn, yearning element to the first half of this book. That, in itself, is smoking. But once Jackson’s brain can no longer override his heart and libido things turn scorching.
While I absolutely loved Camille, she did drive me a bit crazy with her views about what she could and could not do as a royal. I admire her commitment and loyalty to her people and country. But she has blinders on and is just hyper focused on what she thinks is expected of her without actually checking with those in the know about what is actually expected of her.
On top of the romance and chemistry in this story, the suspense part of the book also kept me very engaged. It’s not the type of suspense that keeps you tense. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. This story doesn’t take that direction until toward the end, though. For the most part it’s about the romance. That didn’t stop me from trying to figure out who could end up being a bad guy throughout the story.
As usual, Sawyer Bennett tells a tale that I didn’t want to put down.
