He has a darkness in his soul that he doesn't know if he can contain. She's smart as hell, or maybe she's actually from Hell. Neo can't lead the Black Dragon Brotherhood in their fight against evil if he can't get back to their headquarters in Rogue with news of the newest threat from Hell - shadow warriors. His best bet is the luscious, curvy fire witch who doesn't seem to know how to use her powers, but has the tainted human lawmen running in circles with her sexy-as-hell smarts. When her powers surface and bring the shadow demons and their human minions down around them in force, he must choose. Save his one true love, his fated mate, the woman who can redeem his own soul, or save the world. *Part of this story were previously published as A Touch of Fate. This new full-length novel version re-imagines the Fated For Curves series with dragons as the heroes

I’ve read a few shorts by this author and had mixed reviews. The more recent one had me thinking her writing and world-building has improved so I thought I’d explore another of her worlds. Fun, right?
It manages to suck me in from the start with a dramatic, exciting opening scene and some great world-building. I think my decision to give this author another look was a good one!
Katie is well-developed, super relatable, down to earth. And witty, making me laugh a bit. It also makes me keep on reading.
I do think the author used a few instances of convenience instead of continuity at times. This could be improved upon a bit. There’s nothing else I’d change.
Note:
I listened to the audiobook. Male narrator’s voice isn’t exactly smooth, but it’s still pleasant and is a great fit for the content. I’d love to hear more from this narrator, particularly, I think, in Fantasy. Female narrator has a smooth, pleasant voice who uses the appropriate emotions throughout. Will listen to anything else she narrates! Both are positive additions to the reader experience, for the most part. (I could’ve lived without things like “neener neener neener” to indicate sirens and “bark bark bark aaahh--oooo” for dog/ wolf sounds. Those were a bit painful to listen to!)
3 stars for the content.
5 stars for the narrators’ performances.
So since I’m basing my review on the audiobook, that gives it an average of 4 stars overall.
