Also known as The Bastone Effect (trademark pending lol) 😉 Promise Me Sunshine was one of the most recommended romances in 2025 and I believe it's because of the unique combination of love and grief. Here of some of my favorites. Recommendations are welcome in the comments but I will keep the list to ones I've read.

The heartbreak. The longing. The emotional punches I was not prepared for. These books didn’t just make me tear up; they stayed with me, lingering in that quiet space after the final chapter. Soft souls, proceed carefully.

One or both main characters are grieving the loss of a sibling.

• I tried to only include books in which the death is mentioned or heavily implied in the blurb
