Becoming roommates with my best friend’s dad is a bad idea. Knowing he’s the enemy--worse. Falling for him... a disaster. Chasing my dream has me skating on thin ice. My coach, James Connor is a legendary hockey player and an absolute stud. My best friend has spent years venting about how awful he is as a father. The hate rises when he benches me. When James finally sees me skate, our bickering builds up feral tension. Winter break forces us to live under the same roof for a couple weeks. Seeing him with just a skimpy towel, sweaty in the sauna is intoxicating. Turns out; his coaching extends beyond the rink to between the sheets. Hold the phone, I can't call my best friend for help... But l might have to ask her how she would feel if I were her stepmom.

This is a hockey romance but there's a twist. James is a retired professional hockey player who used his money he earned playing in the NHL to buy part of the hockey team in Columbus. That was the last place that he played and his daughter is also attending college nearby. They have a strained relationship and he would like to make that better. He helped to coach a training camp and the first day, he realizes that there is a girl who wants to play with the boys. He's somewhat rude to her the first day, but when she plays, he can see that she knows what she's doing on the ice. Her name is Claire and all she wants is to get better so that she can go pro just like the boys. The more they see of each other, the more attracted they become and at a party to celebrate the end of camp, they share a kiss. They both agree that it shouldn't have happened and try to move on. But they can't and eventually end up in a relationship of sorts. But what happens when James finds out that Claire's roommate is his daughter, Sarah? When Sarah and others find out about them and things get even more complicated, can they find a way to stay together or is just a story for Claire to think about later in life?
I liked the characters in this story and their reactions were how you would expect them to me. Some of the intimate scenes, especially the first ones, were a little awkward, but it got better.
