In the Details (Mile High Billionaires, #1)

Julia Wolf

Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

Two strangers at a beat down biker bar. A hot night twisted up in the sheets. Absolutely no strings attached. My life is too complicated for more than that. Besides, what would I do with a possessive, demanding, sexy as hell motorcycle man? Especially one who’s younger than me. As an executive with a demanding career and single mom to a three-year-old little girl, my life is planned down to the minute, but everyone knows what they say about the best laid plans… When Jake Hayes walks into Rossi Motors looking for a partnership between our two companies, I’m lost for words. It turns out, my motorcycle man looks just as good wearing a finely tailored suit as he does straddling a bike in his leathers. Now that he’s found me, he wants more hot, steamy nights with me. He’s persistent and I’m…tempted. I try to keep him at arm’s length, but he slowly draws me in with his searing kisses and lighthearted teasing. It doesn’t hurt that he’s sweet and gentle with my little girl either. But then, he has plenty of experience with kids since he has a daughter of his own. Jake wants me and all the baggage I come with. I want him too, but my heart's been too battered to give it away easily. If I don’t choose, Jake just might take matters into his own hands and steal it anyway. Tropes: *Single dad AND Single mom *Billionaire (Her) *One night stand *Curvy Heroine *Workplace

Reading this book reminded me of the viral audio of George from Bridgerton on TikTok, you know? The one where he says, "Oh my God, my wife is beautiful!" That’s exactly how I felt about Clara and Jake: their story was absolutely beautiful, heartwarming, and tender. I don’t know how else to explain it, but it’s a solid 5/5 for me. Let’s break it down:

    1. Their relationship: Jake knew from day one what Clara meant to him, and I loved his determination (with its ups and downs, like any relationship). Clara, on the other hand, was a bit more difficult to figure out because of the baggage from her divorce. I totally get it—it’s hard to find that sense of security when you're letting someone new into your life.

    2. The focus: I loved that the story didn’t revolve around corporate stuff or the fact that Clara had millions. Yes, she comes from a wealthy family, but that wasn’t the core of their relationship, and I absolutely appreciated that.

    3. The kids: PERFECT, BEAUTIFUL, and ADORABLE. Hallie is such a sweetheart, and her bond with Jake? It was like love at first sight between them, and it grew so naturally that you barely notice how deep their connection becomes. Sage—I want to talk about her without spoiling anything—but she’s a very mature and serious teenager for her age. She’s not afraid to speak her mind and respects her parents. Honestly, reading her character made me appreciate the incredible job they did raising her.

In conclusion, this is Julia’s second-best book. The first still goes to Elliot and Cat, but I would recommend this one without hesitation.
