Some Kind of Blunderful

Some Kind of Blunderful

Livy Hart

Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

If you ask Mia Madden, the road to dating hell is paved with suspiciously hot online profiles. Take tonight’s date, for example. Alex Conroy’s whole “boardroom in the streets, lumberjack in the sheets” thing totally works for her, but his profile did not convey that he represents everything she loathes about corporate hustle culture. He’s not even worth her bottle of purse wine. Imagine her horror when it turns out that Alex is also the hot-shot new boss her dad can’t stop complaining about—the Forbes 30-under-30 company fixer of his nightmares. Worse, their respective best friends are dating. Mia and Alex are constantly thrown together, whether it’s for corporate volunteer hours at the animal rescue, squaring off at the company picnic, or literally trapped in an escape room. It’s one nightmare after another... no matter how sexy the company is. Mia’s life is now a romantic-comedy of errors, complete with her kinda, sorta, accidentally sleeping with the enemy. And she’s not sure which is worse: that Alex could ruin her dad’s career, or that she might actually like him.

First time reading a book by Livy Hart, and it certainly won't be my last! Her writing has an addicting edge that kept me glued to the story, desperate to devour the banter, the romance, the friendships, everything the story had to offer.

Despite a tough beginning after a blind date gone wrong, Mia and Alex were thriving whether they knew it or not. Each time they were in proximity of one another, it was like they lit up; they both would bring out the best in each other. The chemistry came alive through the pages; I couldn't get enough! Their dynamics were so believable and entertaining.

The romance was absolutely delicious! While we get a slow burn at the beginning, once that layer is gone, the spice appears and it's here to stay. I was impressed by Alex! His thoughtfulness added an extra ounce of hotness, especially that thot tub scene.

Friendship and family dynamics are ever-present in this story, something that I appreciate immensely. It was endearing to read about Mia's relationship with her father. She's a devoted daughter, sometimes at the expense of her own desires, but this is where a lot of growth happened for Mia. It was beautiful to see her navigate her feelings and familial relationships on her own.

Overall, Some Kind of Blunderful is an addicting, banter-filled, playful romance that will have its readers squealing and giggling!

I LOVE a romance that doesn't have a third act break up!!! A third act fight/issue, sure, but an actual break up mostly due to miscommunication or lack of communication? Not here.

Alex and Mia are a great couple that I loved getting to read and learn about. They both have traumas and dramas from their past that bring in their own issues with their relationship but I think they handled everything well.

Honestly, the best part of this story was the number of times Mia and Alex just ended up at random places together and the way the both dealt with it. I laughed out loud more times than I can count.

This is definitely a spicy book and the spicy times were very nice. They didn't feel weird or awkward and sometimes in books, they just feel off but these were good.

I did have an ARC of this from Netgalley but I read it far too long after the release for my liking.

I will admit that I feel very torn with Some Kind of Blunderful - I love Livy Hart's writing but her books have been a toss up for how much I enjoy them/love them. While I ADORED Planes, Trains and All the Feels - I didn't connect to Some Kind of Blunderful as much as I hoped.

I love meet cutes, but I also love meet disasters and this one had me laughing - yet, even after the meet disaster, Mia and Alex continue to run into each other every where they go. Including being set up on a blind date.
I love the banter between the two MCs and I definitely felt their chemistry. The spice was fantastic (Livy Hart knows how to write spice!) and I really appreciated that the third act breakup was realistic and showed growth & communication between the characters.

Huge thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC & thank you for providing #joyfulchaosbookclub with widgets! My opinion is 100% my own.
