The Silence Lies (Twisted Betrayal, #1)

Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

Revenge; they say it’s best served cold, right? Well, that’s exactly what I intend to do. Enzo LaRosa was everything to me, my best friend, my second in command, and my enemies took him from me. After his death, I’m more determined than ever to make the enemy pay for what they did. But as the first female leader of The Bianchi family, I have a target on my back. There’s only so much my new second in command, Levi, can do to protect me, and I need allies. Enter Giovanni, the silent bodyguard, and Luca, an aligning family with the same vendetta. Together, we take on La Cosa Nostra. Together, we plan to take down the Mafia family that tried to destroy us. But in the process, I’m left to face more than just avenging my best friend’s death. With lingering stares and a palpable attraction, it forces my situation into even more confusing territory. I don’t know what I want anymore, revenge or romance. With three men at my disposal, it’s hard to choose. But maybe I don’t have to.

Sera was raised to be confident and powerful. She comes into that power as the first female head of La Cosa Nostra. Which naturally puts her in danger. It takes a special man to deal with who and how Sera is. That's why it takes 3 of them. I adore how each one of them lets her be who she is, vulnerable yet powerful. They respect her, which is huge to her since everyone is testing her at every turn. While they do want to protect her, it's because they care for her, not just as an obligation or because "she needs to be taken care of". This book is tense throughout, but there are enough lighter spicy times to balance it out. I cannot wait for the next installment of this story to see what happens next.
